The Iranian President: We cannot negotiate with those who threaten us

Monday evening, during a meeting with members of the Hamedan Provincial Parliament, Masoud Pezeshkian reaffirmed the government's commitment to expanding the powers of provincial authorities. He stated:

"We believe that local representatives and officials can make better and more cost-effective decisions for the provinces. Therefore, a working group has been formed to implement the expansion of provincial authorities within the framework of the law and the general policies of the Supreme Leader. This group is currently studying the matter."

In another part of his speech, Pezeshkian described the foreign policy strategy of the 14th government as being based on "dialogue." He said:

"We are a nation that engages in dialogue and negotiates with many countries, including our neighbors, on various issues. Even Araghchi travels to conduct a series of negotiations with European representatives. However, we cannot negotiate with someone who openly threatens us and places their hand on our neck."

The Iranian President emphasized:

"Iran is a vast country with long borders and many neighbors. Sanctions cannot be effectively imposed on Iran given its extensive borders and numerous neighboring countries."

Pezeshkian further highlighted that one of the 14th government's priorities is the expansion of transportation routes and trade corridors passing through Iran. He noted:

"Another issue I am personally following is the connection and completion of international corridors within the country. We have a short window of opportunity in this regard, and we must strive to expand railway lines and highways stretching from north to south and west to east as quickly as possible."
