KRG Delegation Attends AIM Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi
The congress provides a critical platform for the Kurdistan Region to engage directly with global investors, forge cross-border commercial ties, and promote its expanding sectors, including energy, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and digital technology.

The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has joined more than 180 nations on the world stage as the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM Congress) 2025 officially opened on Monday in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Held under the theme “The New Wave of a Globalized Investment Landscape: Towards a New Balanced World Structure,” the high-profile summit brings together some of the most influential economic decision-makers and private sector leaders in a rapidly evolving global economy.
The event, which runs from April 7 to 9, is set to host a dynamic mix of global leadership including heads of state, over 60 ministers, central bank governors, 30 mayors, and a remarkable 1,250 panelists. With more than 20,000 participants from across 180 countries, AIM Congress continues to assert its role as one of the largest and most impactful gatherings focused on international investment and sustainable economic development.
A KRG delegation, led by Dr. Mohammed Shukri, Chairman of the Kurdistan Board of Investment and representative of Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, is attending the summit for the second consecutive year. The delegation also includes officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as a number of businesspeople and investors from the Kurdistan Region.
Speaking to Kurdistan24 correspondent Hoshmand Sadiq, the delegation’s spokesperson Bergasht Akrayi stressed the importance of Kurdistan’s participation, saying:
“We want to use this platform to encourage Emirati and international investors to consider Kurdistan across various sectors. There are significant opportunities in our region that we want to showcase.”
The summit, which runs until April 9, has drawn over 20,000 participants from 180 countries. This year, alongside other nations, a dedicated “Kurdistan House” has been opened at the event, symbolizing the region’s growing international engagement.
According to Akrayi, the delegation has scheduled several meetings with heads of state, prime ministers, and ministers of economy and industry from various participating countries.
“In every meeting, we offer them our full support and invite them to invest in our region,” he added.
“These facilitations cover all sectors that would strengthen the economic foundation of the Kurdistan Region—especially tourism, trade, industry, education, and training.”
Their participation marks a renewed effort to deepen global economic partnerships, showcase the Kurdistan Region’s investment potential, and position Erbil as a rising center for trade, energy, and industry in the Middle East.
AIM Congress 2025 is taking place against a backdrop of global economic realignment driven by post-pandemic recovery, geopolitical shifts, and transformative technological advancements. The theme underscores a collective need to establish a more balanced and equitable global economic architecture—one in which emerging markets and dynamic sub-national economies like Kurdistan can play a vital role.
For the Kurdistan Region, the congress provides a critical platform to engage directly with global investors, forge cross-border commercial ties, and promote its expanding sectors including energy, agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and digital technology. It also offers a chance to highlight the KRG’s legislative reforms, infrastructure development, and investment-friendly climate that have drawn growing interest from international firms in recent years.
Dr. Shukri and his delegation are expected to participate in several key panels and bilateral meetings aimed at fostering economic diplomacy, attracting foreign direct investment, and advocating for inclusive growth within federal Iraq and beyond. The KRG’s involvement reflects its commitment to advancing diversified economic development and leveraging regional stability to drive prosperity.
As global leaders discuss new pathways to economic resilience and sustainability, the Kurdistan Region’s presence at AIM Congress 2025 affirms its ambition to be a vital player in shaping the next chapter of global investment. With strategic geographic positioning, natural resources, and an increasingly capable private sector, the Region is positioning itself as not just a destination for capital—but a partner in redefining the future of investment.
