Al-Sudani invited to Moscow for Victory Day celebrations
raq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani met with Russian Energy Minister Sergey Tsivilev on Wednesday to discuss cooperation in the energy and oil sectors, according to a statement from Al-Sudani’s media office.

During the meeting, Al-Sudani received an invitation from Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the 80th anniversary celebrations of Victory in Europe Day, celebrating the acceptance of Nazi Germany’s unconditional surrender to Allied forces during World War II.

Prime Minister Mohammed S. Al-Sudani met today, Wednesday, the Russian Minister of Energy, Mr. Sergey Tsivilev. The meeting focused on areas of mutual cooperation, particularly in the energy and oil sectors.
During the meeting, His Excellency received an official invitation from Russian President Mr. Vladimir Putin to attend the celebrations marking the 80th anniversary of the victory over Nazism, scheduled for May.
Prime Minister Al-Sudani reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Russia across multiple sectors, particularly in advancing partnerships and expertise in artificial intelligence.
For his part, Mr. Tsivilev highlighted the progress made in the 10th session of the Iraq-Russia Joint Committee, currently being held in Baghdad under his leadership. He noted that the session has resulted in memorandums of understanding and agreements in maritime transport, healthcare, and the oil sector, as well as cooperation between the chambers of commerce of both countries. He also emphasized his government’s desire to further strengthen the partnership between Iraq and Russia in various fields of mutual interest."
